First Management Aptitude And Skills Test Will Be Held On Feb 20 Next Year

The Management Aptitude and Skills Tells (MAST), launched by the All India Management Association (AIMA), will be first held on Feb 20, 2011. This innovative computer-based test for B-school graduates will evaluate them on general ability, personality traits, and domain knowledge. It has been launched to help students find best-suited job opportunities and the recruiters to find the right candidates based on the skills, talents, and aptitudes of management graduates.

Maharashtra Government Has Increased MBA Seats By 53%

image Maharashtra government has decided to increase seats for management programs in the state by 53%. This news has been received well by management aspirants since colleges now will be authorized to start a second shift for MBA and Masters in Management Studies programs. In 2010–2011, the number of seats will be 33,045 and apart from management, there are 88,370 engineering seats, 8,513 in pharmacy and 7,138 MCA seats in the state. A Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) spokesperson said, “A management degree is highly popular and sought-after. To meet the ever-increasing demand, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved second shifts for management programmes this year. Further, the AICTE has also allowed new colleges to have 120 students in their first batch, instead of 60, which used to be the earlier rule. This has led to a sizeable increase in the total number of seats”.

7th National Competition For Management Students (NCMS) 2010

All India Management Association (AIMA) is organizing the 7th National Competition for Management Students – 2010. The National Competition for Management Students (NCMS) has established its brand equity in the management calendar of the country. NCMS is designed to provide management students a unique platform to hone their knowledge and test their business acumen to battle with the best in the country. The Contest provides opportunities to budding student managers to develop analytical capabilities, demonstrate self confidence, leadership and enhance their presentation skills. The Competition (7th in the series) this year will be held at two levels–Regional and National. The Regional Centres for this year’s Competition will be Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkata and New Delhi. The Best Two Teams will be invited to compete at the Grand Finale scheduled to be held at New Delhi. Over 200 teams comprising 2 members each are expected to participate in this Competition across the country.

IIM-C Interns Grabs 12.5 Lakh Stipend For Two Months

Three IIM-Calcutta students have got stipend of Rs. 12.5 lakh each for two-month internship with a Singapore investment bank, symbolizing revival in global corporate deal activity. They are hoping for a good final placement season in Indian Business Schools. Out of 289 IIM-C students, 60 interns got international offers in South-East Asia, US, UK and mainland Europe. Up to 42% of students interned in finance-related roles, while 37% opted for marketing, 13% for consulting and the remaining for general management roles.

IIM-Ahmedabad: To Set Up A New Campus In Hyderabad

Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) is planning to establish a new campus in Hyderabad. The campus would be set up in 150 acres. As per one official statement, IIM-A has decided to go ahead with the new project in Hyderabad. The government has agreed to allocate the land to the IIM-A, either free or at a very nominal cost. There is no provision for an IIM in Hyderabad in the 12th Five Year Plan. To overcome this, IIM-A reportedly has agreed to set up a new campus in the city, which is an extension of the existing campus of Ahmedabad.
