New ‘Integrated Reasoning’ section in GMAT from June 2012
The Graduate Management Admission Council is launching Next-Gen GMAT,
the tenth version of the GMAT exam, from June 2012. The new GMAT exam pattern will have a new ‘Integrated Reasoning (IR)’ section, which will replace an essay from the ‘Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA)’ section. The new exam pattern will gauge a candidate’s analysis and interpretation skills, which are much in demand by business schools worldwide for the concurrent management programmes they offer.

Sports Authority of India to Recruit Scientific Officers
Gearing up for the London Olympic Games, Sports Authority of India (SAI) has decided to recruit scientific officers to posts, which have been lying vacant for more than 19 years. The Sports Authority has a sanctioned strength of 25 junior scientific officers; however 19 posts are still lying vacant. A post each of scientific officer and senior scientific officer too is vacant. The recruitment process will be completed in the next 4-5 months.

High Cut-Off Marks is Due to Demand-Supply Mismatch: Sibal
HRD Minister Kapil Sibal has said that the 100 per cent cut-off marks this year, for admission in certain streams in Delhi University is due to the demand-supply dynamics and a solution lies in expanding the educational infrastructure. Mr. Sibal said that the demand is far greater than supply and thus the cut-off is bound to be high. The HRD minister also asked that if there is one Sri Ram College of Commerce and everybody wants admission there, what solution can be given to students.

CAT 2011 Highlights
Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have announced the Common Admission Test 2011 (CAT 2011) highlights. Prometric, a provider of market-leading test development and test delivery solutions is IIMs’ partner in developing and delivering CAT 2011. The first section will consist of Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation. Whereas, the second section will focus on Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning. These two sections will be implemented sequentially with separate time limits.

The examination will be 140 minutes. Within each section, candidates will have 70 minutes to answer 30 questions which will have an on-screen countdown timer.

PTE Has Been Approved as English Tester by Business Schools
Harvard Business School and other leading B-schools like Stanford, Yale, INSEAD, ISB, Hyderabad and UK Border Agency have approved PTE Academic scores. PTE Academic is an international computer-based academic English language test, developed by Pearson group. Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the administrator of the GMAT test, has sanctioned PTE Academic, an English language test structured to assess the proficiency of a non-native English speaker to comprehend the English language instruction programs at University level. Mr. John K Philip, Regional Director (SAARC Countries), Pearson Language Tests, said, “The fast- growing acceptance of this test, which is endorsed by GMAC, is testimony to the fact that it setting a new standard in academic English language testing".

Indian School of Business Students Got 33% Spurt In Job Offers
The Indian School of Business reported 33% spurt in job offers, and 11% hike in salaries in 2010 placements, as compared to the previous year. In this year’s placement process, 346 leading domestic and international firms made 541 offers to students. Also, the average salary was reported as Rs. 16.12 lakhs per annum. ISB Dean, Ajit Rangnekar, said, “Technology, consulting and finance companies were dominant players this year. Last year, 326 companies participated in campus recruitment and made 401 offers, with an average annual salary of Rs. 15.91 lakh.”
