MIT on top at QS World University Rankings 2012-13
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) takes the top spot as Indian frustration continues with the release of QS World University Rankings 2012-13. India remains the only BRICS nation without a university in the Top 200 of the QS World Rankings 2012-13. Two of the three leading Indian institutions, IIT Delhi (212) and IIT Kanpur (278), have improved on their 2011 position. Yet the comparison with other BRICS nations remains unflattering.
CBSE to conduct first NEET for MBBS, BDS on May 5
CBSE will conduct the first-ever common entrance test for admission to MBBS and BDS courses across the country on May 5, 2013. The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) will cater to admissions in all the government and private medical and dental colleges in the country on the basis of its merit list. Over 10 lakh students are expected to take the examination next year.
Financial Times survey ranks IIM-A among top 10 global B-schools
As per the Financial Times (FT) Masters in Management 2012 Rankings, IIM-A is once again the only Indian institute to be ranked among top 10 global B-schools. The institute was ranked for its flagship post graduate programme in management (PGP). However, IIM-A slipped three places from rank seven last year to rank 10 in 2012 FT rankings.

The Medical Council of India (MCI) has given a green signal to 2,400 fresh MBBS seats in 20 new medical colleges, while the existing medical colleges have been granted 1,195 additional seats across the country. Apart from this, 300 more medical seats would be created through six new institutes on the lines of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), effective from September this year.
